in last week .. i saw wall.e movie twice ..really im impress.. it was interesting movie in its message and high definition..

when i see the movie i remember the ” boiling frog syndrome”..The boiling frog story states that a frog can be boiled alive if the water is heated slowly enough — it is said that if a frog is placed in boiling water, it will jump out, but if it is placed in cold water that is slowly heated, it will never jump out.
And how we going to be beings lazy..inactive people…

that is movie what you’re going to want to bring into the classroom and use as the basis for a whole RAVE unit. Yes, Wall-E is a kids sci-fi movie. It’s a story about how humanity has left the planet heaped in garbage, so there’s an environmental message. But bigger themes – like how technology distances us from the wonder of creation and how that distance cripples us spiritually – play a bigger role. And filmmaker Andrew Stanton says Wall-E is all about relationships and discovering what makes us fully human.

Over the coming months there will doubtless be screeds written about Wall-E. There deserves to be. It’s a techno-whiz-bang fable that challenges us, a la Plato’s Allegory of The Cave and The Matrix Trilogy, that one way or other, we’re all living on the Axiom.

Wall-E is a call to wake up, stand up, and abandon ship.

It looks like YouTube has been bitten by the real-time bug too. After the recent real-time overhauls of sites like Facebook and FriendFeed, YouTube is now tinkering with a similar notification feature imaginatively called “YouTube RealTime,” reports TechCrunch.

Much like Facebook’s news feed, YouTube RealTime allows users to track the activities of friends within the site. The feature aggregates actions like comments, online status, and viewing habits, and then broadcasts them to a persistently updated toolbar. So, for instance, if a friend was online watching a video of ACDC performing “Thunderstruck,” you’d receive an update in the YouTube RealTime tool bar letting you know. From the looks of it, the toolbar is being integrated as an omnipresent feature, keeping you updated regardless of where you are on the site.

Although YouTube’s embeddable player has been a boon to viral video, this feature could usher in a new era of engagement for the video portal. Instead of relying on direct interaction between users to spread viral video content, YouTube RealTime could transform common user activities into implicit endorsements. Ideally, this move would promote more exploration within the site, which would also amount to more ad revenue for both YouTube and its partners.

Of course, the real question is how the YouTube community will respond to the feature. Though YouTube will probably offer the option to toggle YouTube Realtime on and off, it’s seems likely that some users won’t want to have their viewing habits broadcast across the service. After all, Facebook experienced a similar backlash when it tried leverage its users’ activities for advertising purposes in its Beacon program.

In the meantime, YouTube will continue to test the feature on a limited basis until its ready for a full launch.

Your kid loves PC. And you, though would love him to be a tech wizard also get jittery when he spends long hours in front of the screen. The stories of paedophiles lurking the Internet, kids going to porn sites and chatting with strangers give you nightmares. Cheer up, you are not the only one.

Just like PCs have become an integral part of lives for most kids. The fear of them falling prey to wrong information or company too haunts most parents. The social networking sites have only added to their worry.

Most of these parents often wonder: how to regulate their kids’ Web surfing, the time they spend on the PC, who they talk too online and what they look for on the Net. For all those worried parents out there, here are some ideas to keep tabs on your kid’s computer activity.

here are also several software packages available that help parents keep a tab on their kid’s PC activity. Software package such as Spectorsoft’s Spector Pro (http://www.spectorsoft.com) do not actually block programmes from being run. Rather, they will report to you all the activity that occurred on a particular computer. The software provides complete details of the computer usage. There is also a warning system where you can be alerted based on a series of keywords.

There are also several Keyloggers which can be used as powerful surveillance tools. These keylogger software take total control over the entire computer activity. Most of these work in a stealth mode, completely undetectable in Windows Task Manager with no visual proof.

They log any computer activity, Internet usage, keystrokes, passwords, incoming or outgoing e-mails, shows applications which were launched, record desktop activity and send logs via e-mail. Some of the popular keyloggers are Key Spy Pro, Elite Keylogger and Supreme Spy.

Microsoft’s latest OS, Vista too comes with a Parental Control feature. With Vista’s parental controls, you can impose limits on all sorts of activities, including the hours they can log in and use the computer, whether they have access to the Internet, which sites they can and cannot visit, and which programmes they can and cannot use.

If you’re using Windows XP or an earlier version of Windows, you can use the parental monitoring programmes available on the Internet like Cyber Patrol (http://www.cyberpatrol.com) and Safe Eyes (http://www.internetsafety.com/safe-eyes).

These tools provide many of the features found in Vista’s parental controls and add a few additional benefits, such as the ability to text message, e-mail, or even phone you at work if kids attempt to break the rules. The downside is that these applications focus on Internet activity alone.

Another option is to use a hardware-based solution that turns off the monitor when children have used all of their allotted time on the computer.

PC Moderator (http://www.pcmoderator.com) does just that, but it’s a solution that currently only works with monitors that use the standard VGA port. If you’re using an LCD with the DV-I port, pass this one by.

An alternative for users of other versions of Windows is PC Lock Up (http://www.aquariussoft.com/pc-lock-up). With PC Lock Up, you can determine which times of day or days of the week that a PC can be used.

The programme can also remind your child to take vision breaks – not staring at the computer for too long – and voice alerts will warn your kids of upcoming lockups.

There are also several freeware like PC Watch, which supports Win 98, 2000, NT and XP.

The usage of Web 2.0 and other social networking sites has increased dramatically which in turn has also given rise to a lot of new Internet security issues. Blocking all sites is not an option.

Symantec has developed a parental control technology, code named Project Watchdog. It focuses on building a product for the whole family, not just spyware that polices children and records logs of online activity for parental review via the Web.

“It targets social networking sites, IM and email and prevents children from exposing personal identifying information such as their phone number or address,” says Basant Rajan, CTO, Symantec India. It also enables time-based computer usage-policies, eg, Block my child from playing more than five hours a week. This software could tell parents who among 100 buddies a child spends the most time with.

Use software to protect your children. It gives you the ability to review their Internet usage. Even if you don’t look at every email or IM they send, you’ll have an idea if they are making smart choices online.

“We have a parental control on our site. All games come with age ratings. These ratings are given by international bodies like ESRB (England, Spain, Rome and Bombay) and Peggy. We allow parents to decide which game their children should access, Update including the time slots and dates. And during exam time or whenever they want, they can suspend the access to the site. Also, there is a report card, wherein the parent can see which game the child had played and for how much time,” says Vishal Gondal, CEO, indiagames.com.

“Since many home PCs run on MS Windows, one can use MS Windows Security Center, Norton firewall, Sentry PC and WebAllow. Google also provides free Norton firewall for desktops. Many freewares as well as vendor-specific software exists. However, considering that there will be nine million broadband connections in India, parental control becomes imperative. Moreover, this need extends to mobiles as well, as accessing Internet through mobiles is catching up,” says Manjula Sridhar, CTO, Aujas Networks.

“In addition to using content filtering software and firewalls with Wi-Fi capabilities like SnapGear, parents must educate children on the perils of sharing too much information on the Net and meeting online friends without adequate safeguards,” advises Ajit Pillai of Secure Computing Corporation.

However, keeping in mind the limitless benefits that the Internet can offer, one would not want the children to be locked out from accessing it.

“It is, therefore, important to educate children to use the Internet judiciously and stay safe online,” feels Shailesh Rao, managing director, Google India. Google has launched a national Internet safety campaign called Be NetSmart, which aims to educate students on safe online browsing.

“Social networking sites are a boon as well as a curse. They help you stay in touch with friends and make new ones. Many a time, these sites are misused. I do check up on my daughter sometimes when she sits for hours surfing the Net. I know that she is grown up and knows her responsibility, but she could get influenced by many unwarranted incidents,” says Sandhya Sundaraman, a concerned parent.

By Byron Acohido, USA TODAY
SAN FRANCISCO — The Department of Homeland Security and several tech giants teamed up to launch a nationwide volunteer program that will put tech pros in K-12 classrooms to make the younger generation aware of dangers on the Internet.

The pioneering program, announced today at the RSA security conference here, will teach youngsters not just to be wary of online predators and bullies but alert to the tricks of data thieves and scam artists.

Michael Kaiser, executive director of the nonprofit National Cyber Security Alliance that will administer the program, said the larger goal is to prompt schools nationwide to “embrace a comprehensive approach to teaching cybersecurity, cybersafety, and cyber ethics.”

Science Applications International Corp. will begin sending volunteer instructors into schools in Maryland this week, and tech giant EMC will do likewise in coming weeks in schools in California and Massachusetts. Microsoft, Symantec, Cisco and other tech firms support the program financially.

According to surveys by NCSA and the Pew Internet American Life Project, 79% of teens who use the Internet are not careful about sharing personal information, yet only 3% of state school curriculums includes lessons about smart use of social networks and chat rooms.

“Our children need help,” says Bill Sanderson, principal of International Studies Academy, a public high school in San Francisco. “We require our students to use the Internet for research and study. We must ensure that they are properly educated on how to keep themselves safe online.”

The volunteers will teach from a prepared curriculum, called C-SAVE: Cyber Security Awareness Volunteer Education. NSCA plans to lobby state legislatures and local school districts to adopt C-SAVE “as a national framework to guide cybersecurity teaching in all K-12 shows,” says Kaiser.

In other RSA news, AVG, supplier of a popular free antivirus program, announced that it has made a powerful tool, call LinkScanner, also free to consumers as a standalone protection tool. Previously, LinkScanner came packaged with AVG’s paid antivirus program. LinkScanner checks each website a user clicks to, ensuring it is not currently tainted with a malicious program. McAfee’s Site Adviser and Finjan’s Threat Scanner do similar checks, based on blacklists of known or suspected tainted websites.

But infections can move from one website to the next, hour by hour. LinkScanner is the only tool that checks the health of websites at the moment the user is trying to visit it, says J. R. Smith, CEO of AVG.

“It’s our belief that every computer user has the right to basic security protection, regardless of the ability to pay,” says Smith. “We’re giving away free probably the most relevant piece of our technology.”

Providing the free service will cost AVG about $1 million a year, but the company hopes to boost goodwill toward its brand, and sales of its full line of products, says Smith.

SAN FRANCISCO — Oracle Corp.’s $7.4 billion acquisition of Sun Microsystems Inc. would have minimal impact on technologies that most consumers notice.

Oracle supplies databases and other software to large organizations, while Sun is a major vendor of server computers, data storage machines and business software. Consumers touch those technologies in indirect ways, such as by calling up a Web site or pulling down payroll information from a corporate database.

Consumers are more likely familiar with Java, a programming language that Sun invented. Software developers use Java to build Web sites and programs for cell phones and other devices. You might notice your computer advising you to download a regular update to keep Java-based programs running smoothly. Those updates, which come from Sun, presumably would now come from Oracle if its deal for Sun is completed this summer as the companies expect.

Sun also has been one of the key promoters of OpenOffice, a free, open-source alternative to Microsoft Corp.’s Office software. Sun founded the OpenOffice.org project in 2000, and has been the primary contributor of new computer code to the software. Oracle could now take on that role as part of its broader efforts to challenge Microsoft.

CAPTCHAs, typically in the form of an image comprised of a distorted string of random characters, are a fact of life on the Internet.
They’re typically used to prevent spammers from setting up e-mail accounts or posting links in forums and blog comments and, as such, have set off a bit of an arms race between service providers and spammers.
There have been several notable instances of CAPTCHAs being cracked by automated systems, and academic researchers have been exploring further vulnerabilities and developing alternate systems.
The latest entry in this arms race comes from researchers at Google, who have taken a new approach to foiling automated cracking systems: force them to attempt to orient specific images.

Google has some obvious reasons for being interested in improved CAPTCHAs, as the company provides both e-mail and blogging services that rely on them for security.
And, given that the text CAPTCHAs appear to be getting to the point where it’s harder for human users to accurately use them, a new approach seems to be due.
CAPTCHAs are based on the fact that humans tend to be better at image recognition problems than automated systems, so the Google researchers were apparently able to come up with the new technique simply by looking into areas that computer scientists had identified as being problematic for computer-based solutions.
